Babatunde Ogungbamila

Babatunde Ogungbamila is a Partner at Olisa Agbakoba Legal and heads the firm's Dispute Resolution Practice, specialising in commercial litigation, arbitration, insolvency, banking, oil and gas, taxation, and labour and employment matters. He is an astute litigator with extensive experience across all levels of Nigerian courts and alternative dispute resolution forums.

He recently represented a major oil and gas company in defending an arbitral award of US$50,000,000 in an oil and gas arbitration. He has handled matters resulting in the recovery of about ₦50 billion for AMCON, ₦10 billion for FAAN, and approximately US$236 million through receivership actions relating to vessels. He provides comprehensive legal advisory services to banks, financial institutions, and investors on their day-to-day business operations and regulatory compliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria. His pragmatic approach to dispute resolution has been applied to effectively meet client expectations, even in the most complex cases.

Babatunde holds an LL.B from the University of Lagos, where he served as President of the Students' Union, and an LL.M in Petroleum Taxation and Finance from the University of Dundee (Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy, United Kingdom). He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners of Nigeria (BRIPAN), and INSOL International. He has published numerous papers in international journals including the Oil, Gas and Energy Law Journal (OGEL).
