Juanita Derex-Briggs

Juanita Derex-Briggs is Counsel in the firm’s London office and a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales. She advises corporate borrowers, banks, development finance institutions, and other finance providers on cross-border finance transactions, acquisition finance, loan-on-loan financing, trade and commodity finance, prepayment and receivables-based structures, and general bank lending, with a focus on emerging markets, particularly Africa.

Prior to joining Olaniwun Ajayi (UK) LLP, Juanita trained and practiced as a finance Associate at White & Case LLP, London. Her practice emphasizes structuring and executing complex financial transactions for multinational clients and financial institutions.

She holds an LLB from King’s College London and completed the LPC at BPP University. Juanita has been recognized as a “Key Lawyer” for Trade Finance by Legal 500 (2021), awarded the Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year 2021 by Law.com, and shortlisted for the IFLR Women in Business Law Awards Rising Star 2021.
