Olufemi Akinrele

Olufemi Akinrele is a Senior Associate in the corporate practice, with a core focus on energy, natural resources, and transport law. He has extensive experience in the upstream, midstream, and downstream sectors of the Nigerian petroleum industry, including due diligence, contractual analysis, and advisory services for local and international clients. He has mediated transactional negotiations between indigenous oil companies and foreign financiers/technical partners, assisted in assessing reverse takeover targets on the London and Oslo Stock Exchanges, and rendered numerous opinions to International Oil Companies.

He co‑authored the Nigerian section of the Foreign Investment Review journal “Getting the Deal Through” (1st Edition, 2012), led a legal team on a PPP project with Lagos State, and contributed to the firm’s guide to estate planning, “Wills or Trusts”. Olufemi holds an LL.B. (Hons) from the University of Staffordshire (1998), an LL.M from the University of Dundee (2001), a Qualifying Certificate from the Nigerian Law School (2003), and a Certificate in International Oil Trading from Oxford Princeton. He is the Membership Secretary of the Lagos Motorboat Club and has dual rights to live and work in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
