Christabel Ndeokwelu

Christabel is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution (Litigation & Arbitration), Regulatory Compliance and Corporate & Commercial practice groups at ÆLEX. She is a complex commercial disputes practitioner with a reputation for expertise in representing clients in the energy, telecommunications, engineering, aviation, intellectual property, infrastructure, nonprofit and corporate finance sectors. She has represented several foreign entities including Twitter, Lufthansa, Shell, Total, Chemonics International, AfDB and ISDB; as well as Nigerian companies including The Nigerian Exchange Group, CHEC Nigeria, Huawei and 9Mobile in varied cross-border disputes. She is adept at handling regulatory compliance challenges and providing business-centred corporate advisory. Christabel was part of the team that successfully defended CHEC in multi-billion Naira suit challenging CHEC’s appointment as the Preferred Proponent for the construction of a 434km superhighway in Nigeria, under a PPP arrangement. She was part of the team that represented Shell, Esso, Agip and Total in the landmark case on the renewal of OML 11. She also assisted a UK non-profit organisation in halting a damaging investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and aided in the renewal of donor confidence in the organisation. Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law (“NBA-SBL”) Conference, the Abuja Chamber of Commerce Dispute Resolution Centre Settlement Week, the

Chartered Institute of Arbitration (“Ciarb”) Annual Conference and volunteered in the CIArb Secretariat. She co-authored the Lexology GTDT Complex Commercial Litigation– Nigeria Chapter for 2023 and 2024.
