Dr. Francis Chuka Agbu, SAN

Dr. Francis Chuka Agbu, SAN is the Senior Partner of the Firm and one of Nigeria’s leading practitioners in arbitration, mediation, and dispute resolution. With nearly four decades of active legal practice and consultancy experience, he has advised government institutions, multinational corporations, financial institutions, and major participants in the oil and gas sector on complex disputes, regulatory matters, and high-value commercial transactions.

Dr. Agbu holds a Doctoral Degree from SBS Swiss Business School, Zurich, an LL.B from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), an LL.M in Maritime and Commercial Law, a Master’s Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, and a further Master’s Degree in Applied Business Research from SBS Swiss Business School, Zurich. He is also an alumnus of the Lagos Business School Chief Executive Programme and the IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Spain.

A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), Dr. Agbu has acted as counsel, arbitrator, and mediator in numerous large-scale domestic and international disputes. He is accredited by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), United Kingdom, and is a founding member and past President of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC). He has handled landmark cases before Nigeria’s superior courts and is widely recognized for his expertise in alternative dispute resolution, commercial litigation, financial services regulation, capital markets, and energy-sector disputes.

Dr. Agbu currently serves as Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission committee responsible for developing regulatory provisions relating to digital assets in the Nigerian capital market. He is also a member of the Body of Benchers of Nigeria, a registered Capital Market Operator, and a member of the International Bar Association (IBA).
