Fred Onuobia

Fred Onuobia, SAN, is a senior partner and former Managing Partner of G. Elias. He earned his LL.B degree from the University of Nigeria and later obtained an LL.M from University College London. A Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), the equivalent of King's Counsel, Fred is widely recognized for his experience in complex financial and commercial transactions.

His practice focuses on banking and finance, structured finance, project finance, corporate law, securities regulation, dispute resolution, technology-related business matters, and intellectual property protection. He regularly advises development finance institutions, multinational corporations, leading international banks, regulatory bodies, and domestic and foreign businesses on sophisticated financing arrangements and strategic legal matters.

Throughout his career, Fred has advised on several landmark transactions, including billion-dollar financing programs for development institutions, large-scale infrastructure and transportation projects, refinery developments, oil and gas financing, mergers and acquisitions in the insurance sector, and cross-border financial transactions. He has also represented major telecommunications companies in significant intellectual property disputes before Nigerian courts.

In addition to his legal practice, Fred is a member of the Nigerian Bar, a Notary Public, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
