Hibbatun-Nasser Shobambi

Hibbatun-Nasser Shobambi is a Senior Associate in the firm's Intellectual Property (IP), Entertainment, and Media team. She advises indigenous and multinational clients on the strategic protection, management, and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Nigeria, across Africa, and in global markets.

She has provided IP advisory and enforcement services to clients in pharmaceutical, manufacturing, telecommunications, entertainment, transportation, and financial services sectors, including advising an upstream oil and gas client on patent registration. She manages extensive trademark, copyright, and patent portfolios across Africa, ARIPO, OAPI, the EU, and the US. She has advised on IP rights acquisition in M&A and private equity transactions, including a merger involving an FMCG company and a private equity investment in a payment solutions provider. She also advises creatives, including an international music artist on multi-jurisdictional brand protection, and represents clients in trademark oppositions and copyright disputes.

Hibbatun-Nasser holds an LL.B from Girne American University and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School. She has completed certifications from Harvard Law School and WIPO, the Institute of Competition Law (New York), and WIPO on the Madrid System. She has published articles including "IP and Athletics: A Spotlight on the 2024 Olympics" and "Protecting Software Rights in Nigeria."

She is ranked as a "Rising Star" for the EMEA region by Managing Intellectual Property (2023-2024) and recognized as an "Outstanding IP Practitioner" in Nigeria for Trademarks and Patents by World Intellectual Property Review (2021-2022). She is a member of the Intellectual Property Law Advocacy Network (IPLAN) and the Nigerian Bar Association.
