Josephine Udonsak

Josephine Udonsak is a Partner in the Energy and Project Finance practice group at Dentons ACAS‑Law in Lagos, specialising in energy law, project finance, and mergers and acquisitions. She advises clients on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal documents and transactions, as well as statutory and regulatory compliance matters related to doing business in Nigeria, particularly in the oil and gas sector.

Josephine has advised on a wide range of high-value energy transactions, including the acquisition of a 45% interest in an oil prospecting license in Nigeria; the proposed acquisition of a minority equity stake in an offshore company holding interests in gas infrastructure; and the acquisition of a 60% equity stake owned by an international corporation in a publicly listed Nigerian company. She has also advised two related indigenous oil and gas companies on the development of an oil and gas field and their joint venture relationships, assisted in the preparation of bid documents for Nigeria's 2020 marginal field bid round, and advised on the development of a 90MW on-grid independent power project in Nigeria.

Josephine was one of four Nigerian lawyers selected to participate in the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) Flagship Secondment Programme in 2019, where she gained experience with the Energy Projects and Infrastructure team of an international law firm.

Josephine holds an LL.B from the University of Ibadan (2011), a BL from the Nigerian Law School (2012), and an LL.M from the University of Aberdeen (2019). She is a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
