Konyin Ajayi SAN

Konyin Ajayi is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and Partner in the firm, with over four decades of experience spanning litigation, arbitration, and transactional practice. He advises clients on complex disputes and high-stakes commercial matters across oil and gas, energy, infrastructure, banking, project finance, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, and privatization.

Konyin has represented clients in significant international and domestic arbitrations, including a US$20 million LCIA arbitration for an oil and gas company, a US$606 million crude oil supply dispute for an international oil company, ICC arbitration in the telecom and power sectors, and a US$5.5 million arbitration for an electricity distribution company. He has also been involved in state investment arbitrations and complex cross-border M&A transactions.

He regularly advises on banking, project finance, capital markets, power, infrastructure, energy and natural resources, combining dispute resolution expertise with strategic transactional advisory. Konyin serves on boards including Dangote Fertiliser Ltd. and Leadway Holdings Limited, and contributes to policy reform at national and continental levels, including as chairman of the Capital Market Master Plan Implementation Committee and consultant to the UN Economic Commission for Africa.

Konyin holds a Ph.D. from Selwyn College, University of Cambridge, an LL.M from Harvard University, a B.L from the Nigerian Law School, and an LL.B from University of Ife. He is a recognized author of books and peer-reviewed articles in law, theology, and politics, and is a professor of banking law.
