Sixtus Iwuoha

Sixtus Iwuoha is a Senior Associate in the firm’s top-ranked dispute resolution practice, focusing on Commercial Litigation. He is an experienced litigator who has handled a variety of high-stakes disputes, including complex commercial litigation, labour and employment, restructuring and bankruptcy-related litigation, shipping and international trade, environmental pollution litigation, securities litigation, and intellectual property matters.

He represents clients in state, federal and appellate courts throughout the country during all stages of litigation, from pre-action strategy formulation to trial and appeal, and in mediations. Sixtus also regularly provides pre-litigation counselling and strategic advice and advises on transaction-related litigation risk.

As an arbitration practitioner, he was seconded in 2018 to the International Arbitration Group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London under the International Lawyers for Africa Secondment Programme, and was part of the successful cohort in the 2023 Africa Arbitration Academy Programme.

Based on consistent feedback and rankings, Sixtus maintains a clear focus on clients’ commercial objectives and delivers outcomes aligned with clients’ strategic interests. He holds an LL.B from Imo State University, a B.L from the Nigerian Law School and an LL.M from Osgoode Hall Law School. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (Sections on Legal Practice and Business Law), the International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Nigeria.
