Abimbola Odunaike

Abimbola Odunaike is a Partner and leads the Taxation/Corporate Governance Practice Group. He has exceptional proficiency in commercial law, taxation, corporate governance, risk management, and alternative dispute resolution, with extensive experience advising local and international companies in oil and gas, telecommunications, construction, banking, and finance.

He has acted as Transaction Co‑lead in the merger of an AMCON‑owned national bank with a regional bank to form a new nationally‑licensed bank, now one of Nigeria’s foremost banks. He led the legal team for the reserved bidder in a ₦108 billion PPP concession for development around a national monument in Lagos, and led the legal team for the trustee in establishing a pioneering infrastructure fund worth over $150 million. He is leading the sole legal advisor team in the restructuring and recapitalisation of a construction company with assets over ₦200 billion, and co‑leading the joint solicitors team restructuring a state government’s ₦50 billion bond issuance programme. He also advised a French automobile company on a ₦3.5 billion joint venture for automobile production facilities in Nigeria.

Abimbola serves on the boards of several companies, including Craneburg Construction, Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, and Indorama Fertilizers and Chemicals, as Director or Company Secretary. He holds an LL.B from Olabisi Onabanjo University, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, an LL.M in Commercial Law from the University of Sunderland, and an International Practice Diploma from the College of Law of England & Wales. He is an Associate Member of ICSAN, an associate member of CITN, a member of CIArb (UK), an accredited CEDR mediator, a Notary Public, and holds memberships in several professional bodies including the IBA, BRIPAN, and the Institute of Directors.
