Iboroma Akpana

Iboroma Akpana is a Partner in the Corporate/Commercial Practice Group, focusing on project finance, construction, infrastructure, oil and gas, investment and divestment, mergers and acquisitions, and regulatory compliance. He has worked with clients across every major industry in Nigeria, with special expertise in the legal and regulatory issues affecting the construction and oil and gas sectors.

He has advised a foreign client on acquiring a majority stake in a local company, a U.S.‑based company on establishing a Nigerian entity, and a telecom company on restructuring trade liabilities. He has advised the Bureau of Public Enterprises on environmental, health, safety, and social legislation, and has acted for Chinese entities on free trade zone development. He has handled asset sale and purchase agreements, joint venture agreements for environmental clean‑up activities on behalf of The Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited, and advised Daewoo E&C on foreign investment requirements in Nigeria.

Iboroma holds an LL.M from Harvard Law School, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, an LL.B from the University of Jos, and a B.Sc in Biochemistry from the University of Ibadan. He is a Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Law Society of England & Wales, the International Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the New York State Bar Association.
