Chiamaka Ogbonnaya

Chiamaka Ogbonnaya is an Associate in the firm's Corporate/Commercial, Fiscal and Finance, Property, and ICT Practice Groups. She advises local and international clients on business planning, corporate matters, contract drafting, regulation of financial institutions, and mergers and acquisitions, with a strong focus on corporate finance, debt recovery, and financial transactions.

She has collaborated with teammates in advising a quasi‑government on recovery of a $4,630,776 debt from defaulting tenants and recovered ¾ of the debt. She advised a Nigerian finance house on its $30,000,000 equity fund raising by reviewing the term sheet and other documents, and advised a Nigerian mortgage bank on debt recovery strategy, recovering debt with a gross value of over $1,157,694. She has also advised a development financial institution on registration of foreign shareholders' interests with the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, and advised a holding company on external corporate restructuring and acquisition of assets and liabilities of a defunct financial institution.

Chiamaka holds an LL.B from the University of Calabar (2019), a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus (2021), and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators. She is committed to continuous professional development, with certifications in Corporate Finance, Energy and Project Finance, and Capital Markets, and has participated in virtual internship programs with White & Case and Latham & Watkins.
