Clinton Okwara

Clinton Okwara is an Associate Counsel at Dentons in Lagos, specialising in intellectual property law, data protection and privacy, entertainment and media law, and fintech and technology law. He advises national and international clients on IP protection, data compliance, licensing, and technology-related transactions across the entertainment, logistics, and financial services sectors.

Clinton has advised on the legal clearance for album releases for top Nigerian musicians and producers, advised on synch licenses for international movies and games, and counselled directors on production and casting matters in compliance with data protection laws. He has provided legal advisory to a logistics tech startup on compliance with data protection regulations under NITDA and NDPC guidelines, and advised on the deployment of peer-to-peer software and data protection obligations for financial technology companies. He has also supported a tech startup in securing advertising licences from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria.

Clinton holds an LL.B from Obafemi Awolowo University (2020) and a BL from the Nigerian Law School (2022). He is an Associate Member of The Privacy Academy and holds a WIPO Certification in Intellectual Property (2023).
