Dr. Bolanle Babalakin, SAN

Dr. Bolanle Babalakin, SAN is the Senior Partner of the firm with expertise in litigation, arbitration and ADR, real estate, infrastructure and construction, corporate finance, banking and securities, taxation, and corporate, commercial and compliance. He is one of Nigeria’s most distinguished legal practitioners, with a career spanning decades of high‑profile disputes, infrastructure development, and public service.

He has worked with federal and state governments to conceptualise infrastructure and investment transactions, led the legal team for the construction of a multi‑million dollar international airport in Nigeria, represented a state government in a major arbitration, led the team that represented the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in a multi‑million dollar arbitral dispute, and led a landmark election petition case that resulted in the appointment of a Senate President. He has served as Pro‑Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the University of Lagos and the University of Maiduguri, Chairman of the Committee of Pro‑Chancellors of Nigerian Federal Universities, and Chairman of the Federal Government‑Universities Based Unions Renegotiations.

Dr. Babalakin holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Lagos, an LL.M and a Ph.D from the University of Cambridge (as a Commonwealth Scholar), and passed the qualifying professional examination from the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos. He was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2002 and the national honour of Officer of the Federal Republic (OFR) in 2008. He is a member of the Body of Benchers, the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria.
