Iyunola Adekanye

Iyunola Adekanye is a Partner at Dentons ACAS-Law, practicing in the Energy and Project Finance group, specializing in Oil and Gas Law. She provides legal services on complex multi‑party transactions with a focus on energy‑related contractual, regulatory, finance, and investment matters, including mergers and acquisitions and restructuring, for both private and public companies.

Iyunola has advised on a number of significant energy and M&A transactions, including assisting multiple clients on the 2020 Nigerian marginal field bid round; advising on the ongoing privatization of a power asset valued at N19 billion (US$50 million); advising on the proposed acquisition of the entire shareholding of two Nigerian companies, one of which holds 75.31% equity interest in a foreign company; advising on the acquisition of a 45% interest in OPL 276; and advising a Nigerian company on its proposed acquisition of Chevron's 40% undivided participating interest in OMLs 52, 53 and 55. She has also advised on the acquisition of OML 42, drilling contracts for onshore and offshore oil and gas fields, and the validity of title to a participatory interest in the Ogedeh Marginal Field.

She holds an LL.B (Hons) from Coventry University (2008) and an MSc in Finance and Financial Law from the University of London (2011). She was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2009.

Iyunola is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, Women in Mining, Nigeria, and the African Women in Energy Development Initiative.
