Halimat Busari

Halimat Busari is an Associate in the firm's Energy (Oil & Gas) Practice. She routinely advises leading oil and gas companies, financiers, and government entities on high-value transactions including M&A, pre-export finance, corporate and project finance, and debt restructuring. She also has extensive experience in regulatory compliance and legislative drafting, playing a key role in shaping energy-specific regulations in Nigeria.

She has advised a syndicate of lenders on the restructuring of the c. USD 3 billion facility for the Dangote Petrochemical and Refinery Complex, advised Seplat Energy Plc on the $1.28 billion acquisition of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited and related financing, advised on the USD 3.3 billion crude oil prepayment facility to NNPC Limited (the largest syndicated crude oil prepayment facility in Nigeria), advised NNPC E&P Limited on the USD 3 billion financing for the Kolmani River development, advised on the transition of NNPC into a private company under the Petroleum Industry Act, and advised on restructuring a USD 1.2 billion facility to an indigenous oil company.

Halimat holds an LL.B. from the University of Lagos and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom) and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Recognised by IFLR1000 (2023) as a “thorough and professional” lawyer who provides “good legal advisory and timely review of contracts,” she has published articles including "The PIA and Host Communities' Development" and contributed to the Thrive Guide.
