Joke Aliu

Joke Aliu is the co‑Managing Partner with extensive experience in dispute resolution and corporate commercial law. She has represented multinational and local companies and individuals in complex, high‑value arbitration and litigation proceedings arising from oil and gas, maritime, employment, shareholder disputes, debt recovery, and human rights.

She has acted as a joint expert in Nigerian law, providing an expert report on enforcement of foreign judgments in the UK’s Truro County Court. She represented the family of the late Gambian journalist Deyda Hydara in a successful suit against the Republic of Gambia at the ECOWAS Community Court of Justice. She currently serves as Nigerian counsel to a Spanish oil company in a London‑seat CIArb commercial arbitration arising from a contract governed by English law. She also advises on company formation, regulatory compliance, and engages with key regulators.

Joke has spoken on understanding regulatory frameworks in the oil and gas industry, registration of security documentation, and law office management, among other topics, and contributed to “Financial Services Regulation in the Middle East and Africa”.
