Lawyer Profile

Jumoke Lambo is the Managing Partner of Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie, based in Lagos, Nigeria. She heads the firm's Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) practice, which also comprises the firm's data protection practice, and co-heads the firm's Aviation and Employment Law teams. Her practice focuses on Telecommunications Law.

Jumoke has over three decades of experience in telecommunications law, data protection, cybersecurity, aviation, employment law, immigration law and general corporate practice, with an emphasis on corporate advisory, legislative drafting, mergers and acquisitions, foreign investment, corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance, due diligence and capital markets.

She was a member of the consortium of international experts retained by the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Bureau of Public Enterprises, to review and modify Nigeria's legal and regulatory framework for its telecommunications sector. The team later drafted the comprehensive legislation for the sector, the Nigerian Communications Act 2003.

She has assisted many companies in establishing and doing business in Nigeria, and advises investors on the acquisitions of interests in Nigerian companies and regulatory compliance. She also advises on employment-related contractual and trade disputes, and on employee issues in the context of bankruptcies, company liquidations, mergers, acquisitions, divestments and restructuring.

Jumoke heads the data protection practice group, a subset of the TMT practice group, and is noted for her data protection expertise. The firm is a licensed Data Protection Compliance Organisation with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and Jumoke assists many clients with their data protection compliance under the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation 2019.

She was seconded to Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited – Etisalat Nigeria (now 9 Mobile) (2009–2010) and Union Bank of Nigeria (2014–2017) to head their legal departments and restructure the departments by introducing processes and structures to improve efficiency and optimise output.

Jumoke has also assisted the telecommunications sector regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and NITDA in their drive to develop awareness with their various stakeholders. She has been a member of the NCC's faculty at a training of judges on cybersecurity and has assisted NITDA by reviewing policy documents and providing input into proposed draft legislation.
