Ugochukwu Okocha

Ugochukwu Okocha is an Associate with expertise in dispute resolution and taxation. He represents clients in high-stakes commercial litigation, tax disputes, capital markets matters, and energy sector claims before Nigerian courts and tribunals.

He has represented a financial services company in a capital markets dispute involving a ₦350 billion capital raise, represents Nigeria's leading energy supplier in multi-million dollar commercial litigation, and represents a deep offshore oil company in disputes with a multinational bank involving claims over one billion dollars. He manages the litigation portfolio for Africa's leading e‑commerce platform, successfully represented an integrated stock exchange group in a landmark tax dispute on VAT applicability, and was part of the team that secured a 20.21% stake in the Agbami oilfield for a leading energy company. He has also handled criminal appeals, winding‑up petitions, industrial arbitration, and environmental disputes for major petroleum industry players.

Ugochukwu holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Benin and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. He is an Associate of the Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioners Association (ABR), an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), and a member of the Association of Young Arbitrators, Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC), International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), and the Institute for Transnational Arbitration. He is also a Fellow of the Society for Advanced Legal Studies (SALS). He has received numerous awards including the Legal Impact Award 2024 and recognition as a 30 under 30 rising star of the legal profession (LIFIN 2023).
