Chief Anthony Idigbe, SAN

Dr. Anthony Ikemefuna Idigbe, SAN is the Senior Partner at PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors. He has over 39 years of experience in corporate governance, insolvency, business restructuring, arbitration, dispute resolution, privatisation, capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, and oil and gas. He holds a doctorate in cross‑border insolvency from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University, and his dissertation examined the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross‑Border Insolvency.

He has advised on complex transactions, chaired the Technical Drafting Committee for the Investment and Securities Act 2007 and its recent review, drafted the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act, and served as National Coordinator for a World Bank project on shareholders’ rights in insolvency. He is a Fellow of INSOL International, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London), BRIPAN, and the Institute of Directors Nigeria, and a member of the LCIA, LCA, ICCN, AIPN, and the International Insolvency Institute. He chairs Ikeja Hotel Plc and The Tourist Company of Nigeria Plc, serves on the board of Royal Exchange Plc, and chairs the Statutory Audit Committee of Seplat Energy Plc. He is the founder of the Capital Market Solicitors Association (CMSA) and a former Chair of the NBA Legal Profession Regulation Review Committee. He was elevated to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2000 and is also licensed to practice law in Ontario, Canada (2016).
