Babatunde Ige

Babatunde Ige is a Managing Associate in the firm's Dispute Resolution practice and has over 13 years of experience in handling complex commercial litigation and arbitration. He routinely provides strategic advice on, and represents clients in, matters arising from contractual breaches, land disputes, corporate governance disputes, and debt recovery, and regularly interfaces with law enforcement agencies on behalf of clients.

He has advised an International Oil Company on an ongoing claim before ICSID, led the team that successfully defended a conglomerate in a labour dispute before the National Industrial Court, represented a tier one bank in an appeal before the Supreme Court challenging a $15 billion USD award, represented a property development company in a major land dispute covering 388 hectares in Abuja, and led the team representing a telco infrastructure company in a $60 million USD claim. He also successfully defended a bank at the Court of Appeal on arbitral award enforcement, provided legal support to challenge enforcement of an arbitration award against a national oil corporation under the New York Convention, represents a global airport operator in a ₦2.5 billion claim over airport concessions, represents the Nigerian Army in a land dispute covering 245.2 hectares in Maitama, and represents an international investment company in a multi-billion-naira intellectual property claim against a federal government ministry.

Babatunde holds an LL.B from the University of Uyo, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School, and an LL.M from Swansea University, where he received the Institute of Shipping and International Trade Law Prize (2014). He has published "Derivative Security Interests: Definitely Not Another Matter for the Shelves" in the Lord Justice Journal, University of Ibadan (2014). He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
