Boonyameen Babajide Lawal, SAN

Boonyameen Babajide Lawal, SAN is a Partner and Head of the Abuja office with expertise in public sector, litigation and ADR, corporate and commercial, and real estate, infrastructure and construction. He is a seasoned advocate who represents clients in complex commercial disputes, land litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters across the energy, aviation, technology, and public sectors.

He represents Oando Energy Resources in land disputes in the Niger Delta following its acquisition of Agip Oil Company's assets for hundreds of millions of dollars, and is a member of the defence team for NNPC Ltd in litigation and arbitration involving hundreds of millions of dollars. He has represented Bi‑Courtney Aviation Services in disputes arising from a multi‑million dollar airport terminal BOT project, successfully represented the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority in obtaining judgment against an insurance company for employee retirement benefits, and represented the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory in a contractual dispute with a major construction company. He also represented Galaxy Backbone Limited before the National Assembly on ICT and cybersecurity legislation, Rosehill Group in a PPP dispute regarding the Asokoro Island project, Uber on regulations affecting its operations in Abuja, and advises Oxfam and Save the Children Foundation on litigation and employment matters in Nigeria.

Boonyameen holds an LL.B (Hons) from Lagos State University and was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2024. He is a Notary Public of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, United Kingdom. He has served as Secretary of the NBA Public Interest Litigation Committee and is a designated Pro‑bono Partner for the Legal Aid Council.
