Chidera Chikere

Chidera Chikere is a Senior Counsel at Dentons in Lagos, practicing in the Energy and Natural Resources and Financial Services Practice Groups, specializing in Oil and Gas Law. He advises local and international businesses on project structuring, financing, and regulatory compliance within the energy and finance industries, supporting clients through the full investment cycle from selection to exit.

Chidera has advised on significant transactions including West Power and Gas Limited in the divestment of its 60% equity stake in Eko Electricity Distribution Company; Chappal Energies Nigeria Limited in the acquisition of Equinor Nigeria Energy Company (ENEC), which held a 53.85% ownership in OML 128; a syndicate of lenders including Afrexim Bank, Sterling Bank, and FCMB on a US$761,449,798.65 loan restructuring deal for a Nigerian upstream oil and gas operator; and Export Development Canada on subrogation and restructuring of a US$2.1 million export purchase loan. He has also advised on the structuring of a US$75 million blended‑finance impact investment vehicle and on gas infrastructure project financing, including pipeline rehabilitation and expansion.
