Dr. Michael Agamah

Dr. Michael Agamah is a Certified Management Consultant and Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, with over three decades of professional experience in corporate governance, legal advisory, and banking operations. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991 and began his legal career at the law firms of Tunde Odanye & Co. and Page Law Office before joining Zenith Bank Plc as a Legal Officer in 1997, ultimately serving 17 years in senior management roles until his retirement.

Dr. Agamah also held leadership positions at Guardian Express Bank Plc, Spring Bank Plc, Bank PHB Plc, and Keystone Bank Limited, functioning as Company Secretary, Legal Adviser, and General Counsel. His responsibilities included providing legal and compliance leadership, strategic guidance on employee and labour relations, banking operations, regulatory and reputational risk management, and oversight of subsidiaries in Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.

His practice encompasses corporate governance and board advisory, regulatory compliance, legal risk management, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, company secretarial practice, banking and financial services law, corporate restructuring and insolvency, labour and employment law, capital markets and corporate finance, ESG strategy, and cross-border legal advisory. He has served as a non-executive director on the boards of KBL Insurance Limited and Global Bank Liberia Limited.

Dr. Agamah holds a Doctor of Business Administration and a certification in Corporate Governance from Leeds Beckett University, an MA in Education from the University of South Wales, an LL.M in Industrial & Commercial Law from the University of Lagos, a B.L from the Nigerian Law School, an LL.B from the University of Jos, and a B.Sc. in Political Science from the University of Calabar. His awards include listings in the GC Powerlist Nigeria 2024 and 2025, Top 100 Corporate Counsel in Africa (2015), and multiple academic distinctions throughout his legal and management education.
