Mabel Okereke

Mabel Okereke is a Partner with expertise in corporate finance, banking and securities; corporate, commercial and compliance; and litigation, arbitration and ADR. She advises on capital market transactions, cross‑border commodities deals, private placements, and complex financing arrangements across the energy, financial, and commodities sectors.

She has worked on a multi‑billion naira private commodity notes issuance programme, advised on cross‑border commodities trade involving dematerialised gold exchange‑traded certificates, and been part of teams advising on a multi‑million naira fixed income fund and a million‑dollar fund. She has advised on a private placement for multi‑billion naira commercial promissory notes and complex multi‑currency finance transactions for first‑tier banks. She acted on a mortgage originator portal, a digital trading portal for LBMA‑certified precious metals, and a cross‑border gold doré bars transaction. In arbitration and litigation, she has been part of teams challenging a London arbitration award involving a state‑owned oil company, handling an IOC crude oil dispute worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and has led teams on freezing order applications, debt‑asset swaps, and vessel management arrangements to recover billions of naira and millions of dollars for financial institutions.

Mabel holds an LL.M in International Business Law from Queen Mary, University of London, an LL.B (Hons) from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, and is admitted to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor. She is a registered Capital Market Solicitor with the Securities and Exchange Commission. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, and the Capital Market Solicitors Association, and has served in various appointed roles including Secretary of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education and Executive Committee Member of the Capital Market Solicitors Association.
