Tolu Olaloye

Tolu Olaloye is a Partner at Jackson, Etti & Edu, based in Victoria Island, Lagos. Her practice focuses on Intellectual Property Law, serving as Strategic Advisor in Intellectual Property, Privacy & Data Protection, and as an expert in Cross-Border Compliance & Digital Risk.

Tolu is a seasoned professional with over 14 years of experience in legal practice, specialising in intellectual property law, regulatory matters, data protection and taxation. She has expertise in managing and protecting IP portfolios across Africa, ASEAN and the Middle East, with in-depth knowledge of over 40 African jurisdictions.

She is an expert in data privacy, advising on frameworks like the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and GDPR, and guiding organisations through multi-jurisdictional compliance challenges. She leads a team focused on brand protection, anti-counterfeiting, digital compliance and cybersecurity, while also specialising in domain name management.

Tolu launched the firm's Technology Start-Up Initiative, supporting Nigeria's tech ecosystem, and contributes to shaping the country's digital economy through policy influence and several committee roles, including the Government Liaison Committee of IPLAN and the INTA Programming Advisory Council, and played a role in drafting Nigeria's Geographical Indication Law.

She is a dedicated advocate for women's empowerment in the legal profession and has led initiatives through the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Women Forum. She is a member of several professional organisations, including the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), IPLAN, the Nigerian Bar Association, the NBA Section on Business Law and INTA. She is recognised as a top-tier IP expert by IP Stars, WTR 1000 and WIPR.

She holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Lagos, a Barrister at Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School, a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Ibadan, a Certificate in Intellectual Property, International Taxation and Business Communication from the University of Oxford, and Advanced WIPO Courses in Intellectual Property Management, Trademarks, Industrial Designs and Geographical Indications.
