Uzoamaka Emerole

Uzoamaka Emerole is a Partner at Dentons in Lagos, leading the Intellectual Property Department, specializing in Intellectual Property Law. She advises IP owners, creatives, and businesses on strategies to protect creative works, brands, innovative products, trade secrets, and regulatory compliance across key industry sectors in Nigeria and internationally.

Uzoamaka's practice covers the full spectrum of IP rights, including securing protection, management, prosecution, enforcement, acquisition, transfer, and exploitation of IP, as well as technology transfer, e‑commerce, data privacy, franchising, distributorship, and licensing arrangements. She regularly participates in M&A deals, legal due diligence, and IP audits. She has advised a diverse range of clients including Jack Daniels, Panasonic Corporation, Chevron, Roche Pharmaceuticals, Abbott Laboratories, Interswitch Limited, and Eventbrite. Notable matters include advising on the acquisition of franchise rights for a popular snack food chain, representing a French football club on franchise strategy in Nigeria, and assisting with the registration of thirty designs for an award‑winning luxury fashion house.

She holds an LL.B (Hons) from Lagos State University (2002), a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School (2003), an LL.M from the University of Lagos (2012), and a Certificate of Proficiency in Copyright X from Harvard Law School (2017). She was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2003.
