Abdulmajeed Abolaji

Abdulmajeed Abolaji is a Senior Associate at Dentons ACAS‑Law in Lagos, practicing in the Energy and Project Finance group, specializing in Oil and Gas Law. He advises players in the energy and financial sectors of the Nigerian economy, with a focus on the acquisition and divestment of oil and gas assets, financing options, escrow arrangements, and joint venture relationships.

Abdulmajeed has advised on diverse issues including finance, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, dispute resolution, and general corporate practice. Notable matters include advising investors in a major power distribution company on their proposed divestment; advising on the acquisition of the entire assets of the Nigerian subsidiary of a major international oil company; advising an indigenous upstream asset holder on a financial and technical services arrangement involving a minimum investment of US$360 million, including the development of a gas processing plant; and advising a syndicate of clients on enforcement actions and refinancing of upstream petroleum assets. He has also advised on the continued deduction of earned capital allowances under the Petroleum Profits Tax Act upon conversion to the Petroleum Industry Act regime.

He holds an LL.B from the University of Ilorin and was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 2018, receiving the Council of Legal Education Director‑General's Award for Attaining First Class. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Association of International Energy Negotiators, and the Compliance Institute, Nigeria.
