Adedolapo Akinrele, SAN

Adedolapo Akinrele, SAN. is the Managing Partner and a leading authority on shipping law, energy and natural resources law, and heads the firm’s Shipping, Aviation and Transport Transactions and Litigation Group, Energy & Natural Resources Group, and Special Projects Group. He has over 30 years of experience in maritime and shipping law, representing regulatory authorities such as the Nigerian Ports Authority, NIMASA, the Ministry of Transport, the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the Shippers Council, and maritime associations.

He represents Nigerian, West African, European, UK and US ship owners and Protection & Indemnity Associations, including North of England P&I Club, American P&I Club, Skuld, West of England, Liverpool & London, and Standard P&I Club. He has acted in litigation, arbitration (UNCITRAL and ICC), ship mortgage enforcement for Den Norske Bank (DNB ASA), and advised on aircraft leasing, Cape Town Treaty enforcement, and infrastructure projects. He has also represented BG Exploration, Svenska, Oando Plc on M&A, and served as Nigerian Country Consultant to Adam Smith International and NIAF on infrastructure projects.

Adedolapo is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He is the author of a treatise on Nigerian Oil and Gas Law, endorsed by the Centre for Energy and Mineral Law and Policy, University of Dundee. He serves on the editorial board of the Nigerian Maritime Law Journal and the Oxford Journal of World Energy Law and Business. He has published numerous articles including in the Journal of World Energy Law & Business. He is a former President of the Lagos Polo Club and a Trustee of the club. He holds degrees from University College London and the University of East Anglia.
