Chuks Ibechukwu

Chuks Ibechukwu is the Managing Partner of Olaniwun Ajayi (UK) LLP in London and chairs the firm's Corporate Practice. He specialises in corporate finance, including project and infrastructure finance, asset finance, leveraged and acquisition finance, and debt capital markets, with a particular focus on impact investing and development finance.

He has advised on more than 50 project, corporate, and structured finance deals that have achieved financial close, contributing over US$40 billion of committed capital towards projects in nearly 20 emerging markets. Prior to his current role, he worked at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) as Africa Regional Lead for Private Equity and Funds and Advisory Services, and practised for over a decade in project finance, banking, and structured finance at Latham & Watkins, Allen & Overy, and Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft. He currently sits on the Legal & Regulatory Committee of the African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (AVCA).

Chuks holds a BA from Richmond University, an MA from King's College London, completed the PgDL and LPC at The College of Law of England and Wales, and is a Solicitor of the Senior Courts of England & Wales. He is the author of "Imported – Locking in Africa's Value(s)" (whitefox Publishing, 2022) and has published articles on Islamic finance and Africa's infrastructure needs.
