Echefu Ukattah

Echefu Ukattah is a Partner at the firm with extensive experience in shipping law, international trade law, arbitration, and litigation. He has represented shipping companies, government agencies, and maritime bodies in admiralty and maritime cases in Nigerian superior courts up to the appellate level.

He advises shipping companies and maritime stakeholders on collision, charterparties, ship financing, general average, towage, piracy, carriage of goods by sea, ship registration (including Nigerian Ship Register and cabotage trade), and other maritime issues. He is an article reviewer for the Maritime Law Journal of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) and has published in reputable local and international law journals.

Echefu holds a PhD in Shipping Law and an LL.M in Shipping Law with distinction from the University of Cape Town, a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School (Second Class Upper), and an LL.B from Abia State University (Second Class Upper). He is a recipient of the Sir William Solomon Memorial Scholarship and the Law Endowment Fund Scholarship, University of Cape Town.
