Ibishope John

Ibishope John is an Associate and a transactional lawyer with expertise in project financing, infrastructure development, and ESG compliance. She advises local and international lenders, borrowers, and sponsors on the financing and development of power and infrastructure projects, covering debt and equity financing, project structuring, and security arrangements.

She has advised the Federal Government of Nigeria Power Company Limited (FGNPC) on the Presidential Power Initiative, Seplat Energy Plc on its USD 650 million 9.125% senior notes issuance, and BUA Group on a USD 500 million term facility from IFC and other lenders for a 120 MW gas-fired power plant and a 10 MW renewable energy plant. She was also part of the team advising on an USD 18 million Climate Fund partnership for a renewable energy power purchase agreement, and advised a syndicate of lenders on the financing of the 450 MW Azura IPP in Edo State. She further advised on ESG practices for a multinational oil and gas company, and on the acquisition of mini-grid assets, among other transactions.

Ibishope holds an LL.B from the University of Lagos and a B.L from the Nigerian Law School (First Class Honours), where she received the Director's General Award for First Class. She is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom) and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
