Joshua Akhator is the Head of Tax and Corporate Commercial Practice at Alliance Law Firm, with over 17 years of experience providing comprehensive legal services in corporate commercial matters, oil and gas transactions, mergers and acquisitions, advisory, restructuring, tax planning, data protection, and compliance. He has collaborated closely with various oil and gas institutions and tax authorities in Nigeria and has handled numerous portfolios, advising clients on corporate commercial transactions, tax issues, data protection compliance, and related regulations.

Joshua was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2009 and has worked with top-tier law firms and professional services firms in Nigeria, including WTS Adebiyi & Associates and Andersen Nigeria. He is a chartered tax practitioner certified by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (AIEN), Centre for Petroleum Information (CPI), and Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators (NICARB). He has written extensively for law journals and edited multiple volumes of the Tax Law Report of Nigeria.

Joshua routinely advises on petroleum contracting and negotiations, corporate compliance, data protection, and corporate tax planning. He has provided legal and tax due diligence for major financing and acquisition transactions in the oil, gas, energy, and fintech sectors, including multi-million-dollar project finance, loan structuring, and corporate reorganization. Additionally, he conducts training for professionals in privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance, ensuring clients remain compliant with NDPR, GDPR, and sector-specific regulations.
