Mercy Matthew

Mercy Matthew is a Senior Associate in Jackson, Etti & Edu's Intellectual Property Practice, based in Victoria Island, Lagos. Her practice focuses on Intellectual Property Law, specialising in commercial IP transactions and data protection for local and international clients.

Mercy is a seasoned legal professional with nearly a decade of experience in IP, data protection and tech transactions. She navigates complex regulatory frameworks, providing strategic advisory services and managing IP and commercial agreements, including licensing, acquisitions and transfer of IP rights in M&A transactions.

A notable highlight is her role in an IP rights clearance project involving 6,000+ digital assets for a leading Nigerian telecommunications company. Mercy also leads data protection compliance audits and training sessions, providing tailored remediation plans and policy documentation.

She has volunteered with a global tech company, advising on regulatory compliance, copyright claims and data privacy. As a trusted advisor to startups and corporates, she brings legal depth and commercial awareness to her engagements.
