Muhammad Yasin Abdulmumin

Muhammad Yasin Abdulmumin is a Senior Associate with expertise in dispute resolution. He represents clients in complex commercial litigation, international arbitration, tax appeals, energy disputes, and constitutional challenges across Nigeria's banking, oil and gas, and infrastructure sectors.

He has been part of teams representing a major commercial bank in an appeal involving a claim worth billions of naira, a major international oil company in two complex arbitral claims and post‑arbitral litigations worth hundreds of millions of dollars, and a leading LNG company in numerous litigations and advisory engagements. He successfully represented a leading energy company in a suit challenging a legislative resolution issued against it by the National Assembly, and represented host communities in an oil spill claim against an international oil company, obtaining compensation running into several billions. He has also advised on corporate and commercial issues for a wide range of local and foreign companies, including a consortium of banks in a claim worth tens of billions of dollars, and a Nigerian company in a tax dispute with a major industry regulator. He has prepared court processes and legal opinions covering oil spill and environmental pollution, taxation, breach of contract, real estate, criminal litigation, election petitions, and complex appeals.

Muhammad holds an LL.B (Hons) in Common and Islamic Law from the University of Ilorin, passed the qualifying professional examination from the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos, and holds an LL.M from the University of Ilorin. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association and the Chartered Institute of Arbitration, United Kingdom.
