Terry Akaluzia

Terry Akaluzia is a Senior Associate and Team Lead of the firm’s Mergers, Acquisitions, and Private Equity Practice. With a decade of experience, he advises clients on complex corporate transactions, strategic investments, and commercial matters across a variety of industries.

His practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, private equity transactions, and general commercial advisory. Terry regularly guides clients through the entire transaction lifecycle, including due diligence, transaction structuring, negotiation, execution, and post-completion integration. He also advises sponsors and investors on fund formation, portfolio investments, and exit strategies.

Terry has advised on several high-profile transactions, including FBN Holdings’ divestment of its 100% equity stake in FBNQuest Merchant Bank Limited, Mavin Records Global Holdings Limited’s majority stake divestment to Universal Music Group, Huaxin Cement Company’s acquisition of an 83.81% stake in Lafarge Africa Plc from Holcim Ltd, and R28 Limited’s acquisition of Prestige Chen Jun Quarry Limited. He also provided legal advisory support for the establishment and operationalization of the Growth Capital Fund under Nigerian law.

In addition to his transactional work, Terry has contributed to legal thought leadership through publications on private equity and venture capital exit strategies and mergers and acquisitions practice in Nigeria. His work reflects a strong understanding of investment structures, corporate governance, and evolving market trends.

Terry holds an LL.M from the University of Lagos, a B.L from the Nigerian Law School, and an LL.B from the University of Abuja. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
