Ayuli Jemide

Ayuli Jemide is the Lead Partner and founder of DETAIL Commercial Solicitors, Nigeria’s first commercial solicitors’ firm specialising exclusively in non‑courtroom practice. He is a highly regarded transactional lawyer with notable experience in infrastructure, energy, public‑private partnerships (PPP), project financing, and oil and gas. He was named “Best Lawyer, Nigeria, 2013” by World Finance.

He has advised the Federal Ministry of Works on the Design, Build, Finance, Maintain, Operate and Transfer arrangement for the Second Niger Bridge valued at ₦162 billion on a PPP basis, and advised the Infrastructure Bank on the ₦170 billion project financing for the reconstruction of the Lagos‑Ibadan Expressway – Nigeria’s first federal toll road to reach financial close. He advised Sona Brewery Group in the sale of five regional breweries to Heineken International BV, the largest brewery M&A in Nigeria to date, and advised Beloxxi on an $80 million equity raise from private equity funds. He acted as buyers’/borrowers’ counsel for Aiteo E&P Company Ltd on the $3 billion sale of Oil Mining Lease No. 29 (Shell’s second largest asset worldwide), and advised the Central Bank of Nigeria on the $1.3 billion Nigeria Electricity Market Stabilization Facility. He also led other landmark transactions including the Lagos State Blue Line Railway, UPDC Plc ₦30 billion REITS, and the LADOL/Samsung JV for Total’s Egina FPSO integration.

Ayuli holds an LL.B from the University of Benin (1987), an LL.M from Northwestern University – Chicago (2007), a Post‑Graduate Certificate in Business Administration from IE Business School, Madrid (2007), and is a Certified Public‑Private Partnership Specialist. He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. He is Chairman of the NBA Section on Business Law, a past Non‑Executive Director of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and serves on several boards. He is the author of “LISTENEVERYHOW – How Negotiations Work”.
