Isaac Abbot Ogbobula

Isaac Abbot Ogbobula is a Partner at Dentons ACAS-Law in Port Harcourt, practicing in the Shipping and Dispute Resolution group, specializing in Dispute Resolution. He focuses on courtroom litigation and advocacy across a wide range of practice areas, including maritime claims, labour and employment disputes, oil and gas matters, general contracts, corporate taxation, debt recovery, and property and real estate cases.

Isaac has extensive experience in general civil, criminal, and commercial litigation, representing clients of diverse nationalities in complex suits before Nigerian courts, administrative tribunals, and regulatory agencies. Notable matters include advising a retail subsidiary of a multinational oil exploration company on title perfection for landed properties in the South‑South region; acting for a leading entertainment and media company on property acquisitions and title perfections; being part of the litigation team defending multi‑billion‑dollar oil spill claims; representing a media company in PPP arrangements with three state governments; advising an international catering company on lease negotiations and defending customary inheritance suits; handling employment law claims, restrictive covenants, pensions, and employee compensation matters; advising top shipping and marine companies on maritime claims; and representing a multinational oil and gas company in a claim exceeding N$11 billion before the Nigerian Tax Appeal Tribunal.

Isaac holds an LL.M from the University of Witwatersrand (2004), a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School (1993), and an LL.B from Rivers State University (1992). He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in 1993.

He was awarded the Award of Excellence by the Nigerian Bar Association, Ahoada Branch, where he served as Chairman and has been actively involved in community advocacy against electoral violence and human rights abuses. He is a member of the International Bar Association and the Eastern Bar Forum, and currently serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi.
