Belema Owen Koko

Belema Owen Koko is a Senior Associate in the Litigation/Arbitration and Corporate/Commercial Law Practice Groups. With a decade of experience, she represents and advises clients, including multinationals, on complex disputes covering energy and natural resources, corporate governance, shareholders’ minority protection, contracts, and real estate.

She has represented a multinational in a property claim of ₦900 million and obtained judgment, and represented a multinational in a ₦1 billion compensation claim relating to alleged non‑compliance with oil and gas trade practice. She successfully obtained dismissal of a ₦20 billion compensation claim against Nigeria LNG Limited concerning its Train‑7 project, represented a company in a governance dispute against the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, and obtained damages for a client against an airline for lost luggage. She has also represented a financial institution in claims of approximately $140,000 and ₦604 million for alleged wrongful reversal of credits and account closure, and represented a company in recovering an insurance claim of about $618,000.

Belema holds an LL.B from Madonna University, Anambra State and a B.L. from the Nigerian Law School. She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
